Gutsul Electro, The Remixes
12" Vinyl
Cat.-Nr.: AY 03

"Gutsul Electro" is taken from the forthcoming album "Trans Balkan Express" by O.M.F.O., where the musical depths of Eastern Europe get blended with the dub and electronic sounds of the West.

The original version of "Gutsul Electro" features the gaijda, who produces the main sound - a sort of bagpipe that is also used on Balkan weddings. Combined with a cymbalon and deep electronic reggae riddims, this track fuses the traditional with the future in the echochamber.

The three interpretations of "Gutsul Electro" on the remix 12" take it another step further:

A1 The Haaksman+Haaksman Boom Boom Belly Mix
Think of a Brasilian batucada crew meeting up with a mad gaijda bagpipe player in a Berlin techno club - a hard 909 bassdrum, rolling percussions and some amazing vocal snippets take "Gutsul Electro" into new transcultural dimensions not yet imagined. Call it batucada balkanica.

A2 DJ DSL Fip Fop Mix
Legendary Viennese hip hop spinmeister DJ DSL worked "Gutsul Electro" into finest dope bits and peaces. Starting with the seminal melody of the breakdance classic "Apache", DJ DSL melts "Gutsul Electro" into a trademark track of his own, including jazz bass and some swinging beats turning the track into a well chilled Balkan hop tune.

B1 Jimpster House Dub
Jamie Odell, a.k.a. Jimpster, morphed the big bagpipe tune into a thundering dub house burner. The cymbalon drops in and out, while dubbed out space sounds provide the lift off. A sure floor rocker.
